One of the biggest matches of the UPSL Midwest Central season has arrived.
Round Lake Evolution FC returns home this weekend for a crucial showdown against league leaders Chicago Nation FC in a match that could significantly impact the race near the top of the table.
The Evo enters the contest in outstanding form, riding a four-match winning streak and continuing to build momentum at the perfect time in the season. Following an impressive 3-1 road victory over Diverse City FC, Round Lake now sits in 3rd place with 18 points, just three points behind Chicago Nation FC at the top of the standings.
Saturday’s matchup presents more than just another league game.
It is a battle between two of the Midwest Central Division’s strongest teams, with playoff positioning, momentum, and pride all on the line.
Chicago Nation FC enters the match as the league’s highest-scoring side, finding the back of the net 36 times through eight matches. Their attacking quality and aggressive style have made them one of the most dangerous teams in the division throughout the season.
But Round Lake has built something difficult to break at home.
The Evo remains undefeated at Round Lake High School Stadium in 2026, where the club has turned home matchdays into one of the toughest environments in the division. Chicago Nation FC has not defeated Round Lake on Evo’s home field since September 23, 2023 — a fact that adds even more intensity to an already important matchup.
Momentum also favors the Evo.
Round Lake’s attack has continued to improve in recent weeks behind strong performances from Ronaldo Rojas, Gabi Uno, Christian “Chapito” Alvarez, and Maqiis Haywood, while the defensive unit led by Johnny Campa has remained disciplined in key moments.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez emphasized the importance of maintaining focus despite the magnitude of the occasion.
“We know the quality Chicago Nation has, but we also know who we are becoming as a group. The team has confidence right now, but we have to stay disciplined and continue earning everything.”
For Round Lake Evolution FC, this match represents another opportunity to prove its growth against one of the division’s established powers.
And for the supporters in Round Lake, it promises to be one of the biggest nights of the season.

Round Lake Evolution FC continued its impressive run of form on Sunday evening with a massive 3-1 victory over Diverse City FC in a crucial Midwest Central Division showdown at Barrington Soccer Complex.
Entering the match separated by only two points in the standings, both sides understood the importance of the result in the race near the top of the table. Despite playing away from home, the Evo delivered one of their strongest performances of the season, showing composure, intensity, and quality in key moments.
Round Lake struck first through midfielder Gabi Uno, whose goal gave the Evo an early advantage and set the tone for the match. As expected, Diverse City FC responded with pressure of their own, using their technical ability and counterattacking style to create difficult moments throughout the evening.
The Evo answered in emphatic fashion on a set piece.
Defender Sergei Wawrzyniak rose above the defense and powered home a screaming header off a corner kick, restoring momentum and energizing the Round Lake side in one of the standout moments of the match.
With Diverse City pushing numbers forward late in search of a comeback, Round Lake remained disciplined defensively and continued to threaten on the counterattack. In the dying moments of the match, Maqiis Haywood calmly converted a penalty kick to seal the 3-1 victory and secure all three points for the Evo.
The win marks another important step forward for Round Lake Evolution FC, who continue building momentum at a critical stage of the season. The Evo have now won four consecutive matches and continue strengthening their position near the top of the UPSL Midwest Central standings.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez praised the mentality and maturity shown by the group throughout the match.
“The team competed with confidence and discipline. We knew it was going to be a difficult game against a quality opponent, but the players handled the moments well and stayed focused.”
The match was played in pleasant conditions in Barrington, though the Evo were once again backed by traveling support despite the smaller setting and away environment.
With momentum continuing to build and the playoff race tightening, Round Lake Evolution FC now shifts focus toward the final stretch of the regular season.

Diverse City FC has built a reputation as a technical side capable of punishing teams quickly in transition. Their ability to counterattack and create chances in open space makes them one of the more dangerous opponents in the division when given opportunities.
For the Evo, maintaining discipline and controlling the tempo in midfield will likely play a major role in the outcome.

As the Spring 2026 UPSL season reaches its halfway point, Round Lake Evolution FC finds itself exactly where it needs to be—firmly in the fight.
Through five matches, the Evo has shown flashes of quality, resilience, and growth. With a record that keeps them within reach of the top of the Midwest Central Division, the message is clear: everything is still to play for.
But inside the club, there’s no sense of satisfaction.
This group understands that while the position is strong, the standard is higher.
The first half of the campaign has been a mix of strong performances and tough lessons. Evolution has proven it can compete with anyone in the division, but consistency remains the difference between being in the race—and leading it.
Moments of quality have delivered results. Discipline and organization have kept the team competitive. But as the table tightens, margins get smaller.
Every detail matters now.
What stands out most isn’t just the results—it’s the development of this team’s identity.
There is a growing sense of belief within the squad. A willingness to fight for each other. A structure that continues to improve with each match.
This is a team that is still building—but building with purpose.
And that matters.
With five matches remaining, the equation is simple.
There is no more time to ease into games. No room to drop points carelessly. Every match from here on carries weight—not just in the standings, but in defining who this team will be by the end of the season.
The difference between playoff positioning and chasing from behind will come down to execution in these final five matches.
The objective remains clear: secure a place in the postseason.
But within the locker room, expectations go beyond simply qualifying. There is belief that this group can push higher—competing for the top spots and making a statement in the division.
To do that, the Evo will need to turn potential into consistency.
This club has always represented more than just results.
It represents Round Lake. Its people. Its pride.
As the season enters its most important stretch, the support of the community becomes even more important. Every voice, every presence, every moment of support matters.
Because this isn’t just a team.
It’s Round Lake’s team.
The second half of the season starts now.

Round Lake Evolution FC faced a tough test on Matchday 4, falling 2-0 to league leaders KS Wisloka Chicago on a cold and windy night at Techny Prairie Fields in Northbrook.
In what proved to be a highly physical and demanding match, both sides battled intensely across the pitch, with limited space and constant pressure disrupting the flow of play.
The challenging conditions only added to the difficulty, as strong winds affected control and passing throughout the match. Despite this, Round Lake remained competitive and organized, matching Wisloka’s intensity for long stretches.
Chances were at a premium, with both teams forced to fight for every opportunity. While the Evo created moments going forward, they were unable to find the breakthrough needed to shift momentum.
Wisloka capitalized on their opportunities, showing why they sit at the top of the table, and managed the game effectively to secure the result.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez acknowledged the nature of the match and the lessons to take from it.
“It was a tough game. Very physical, very competitive. These are the types of matches that test you. We have to stay disciplined, take our chances, and keep improving.”
Club owner Alvaro Vazquez pointed to the bigger picture as the team continues to grow.
“This is part of the process. We’re competing against one of the top teams in the division, and games like this show where we need to be. The group will respond.”
Despite the result, Round Lake Evolution FC remains in a strong position early in the season and will look to regroup as they prepare for their next fixture.
4/15/26
Round Lake Evolution FC will face one of their toughest challenges of the early season as they travel to take on KS Wisloka Chicago on Matchday 4 of the UPSL Spring 2026 campaign.
The match is set for Saturday, April 18 at 7:30 PM at Techny Park Fields in Northbrook, Illinois.
Coming off a strong 3-1 victory over Berber City FC, Round Lake enters the fixture with growing momentum and confidence. Back-to-back home wins have positioned the Evo firmly in the top half of the Midwest Central standings, currently sitting in 4th place with 6 points from three matches.
However, the challenge ahead is significant.
KS Wisloka Chicago currently leads the table with a perfect record — three wins from three matches — and an impressive goal differential of +8. Their consistency on both ends of the field has made them one of the early favorites in the division.
For Round Lake, this match presents an opportunity not only to continue their positive run of form, but to make a statement against the league leaders.
Ronaldo Rojas will be a key figure to watch after his two-goal performance in the previous match, while the team’s attacking depth continues to grow with contributions across the squad. Defensively, Round Lake will need to remain disciplined against a Wisloka side that has proven clinical in front of goal.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez emphasized the importance of the matchup and the team’s mentality heading into it.
“We respect what they’ve done so far, but we’re focused on ourselves. This is a big test, and we’re ready for it. The group is confident and prepared to compete.”
Club owner Alvaro Vazquez highlighted the significance of the moment for the team’s development.
“These are the games that show where you stand. Going away against a top team is never easy, but it’s an opportunity for us to prove ourselves and keep building.”
With both teams in strong form, Saturday’s matchup is set to be one of the most competitive fixtures of the week in the Midwest Central Division.

In front of a committed crowd that battled through harsh conditions — including heavy wind and intermittent drizzle — the Evo showed resilience, character, and composure to secure all three points.
Chicago KICS opened the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalizing on an early opportunity to take the lead and momentarily silence the home crowd.
Despite the setback, Round Lake remained composed and continued to push forward. Their persistence paid off just before halftime when Matthew Hong found the equalizer in stoppage time (45+), bringing energy back into the stadium and shifting momentum heading into the break.
The second half saw Round Lake grow into the match, creating multiple chances. While opportunities from Billy, Gabi, and Nikita narrowly missed the target, the pressure continued to build.
Defensively, goalkeeper Johnny Campa played a crucial role in keeping the Evo in control, making three key saves to deny Chicago KICS and preserve the tie during critical moments.
The breakthrough came in the 83rd minute, when Danail Mihaylov put Round Lake ahead with a composed finish, igniting the crowd as the Evo took control of the match.
From there, Round Lake closed the game with authority. Maqius Haywood added a third goal in stoppage time, sealing the 3-1 victory and capping off a dominant finish that had the home supporters on their feet.

For Round Lake.
The 2025 Fall season was more than just another chapter for Round Lake Evolution FC—it was the moment the club proved, without question, that it belongs at the top of the UPSL Midwest Central.
From a reshaped roster, to consistent performances, to a playoff run that pushed the group to its limits, Evo showed the league—and the Round Lake community—that the project is real, growing, and here to stay.
If the club had to summarize the entire campaign in one sentence:
“We are proving that we are a top of the league team.”
Despite losing college-bound players and carrying a slimmer roster than most teams, the group found stability, rhythm, and belief.
Consistency—once a challenge in earlier seasons—became the defining trait of this one.
“We are consistent with our results and our talent now. There’s no surprises.”
The identity is clear: disciplined, reliable, dangerous, and united.
Round Lake Evolution FC finished the regular season with a 6–3–1 record—one of the best in the Midwest Central.
A historic 12–0 victory over ISAA Villarreal Academy, showcasing the team’s attacking firepower and defensive control.
The 2–2 draw vs Berber City became a turning point:
“We had to lock in and play our game regardless of the standings.”
That mentality became the backbone of the season.
Evo qualified for the playoffs with the best defensive record in the entire conference and one of the most potent attacks in the country.
Opponent: Chicago Nation FC
Result: 0–3 loss
Evo fought to the final whistle but couldn’t capitalize on key moments. The team agreed:
“We fought until the end.”
“We needed to lock in and play our game.”
And emotionally:
“Nobody wants to lose to Nation. It hurt.”
Defeat fuels hunger. And hunger fuels evolution.
19 goals
Top scorer of the conference AND the entire country
A record-breaking season.
Only 7 goals conceded in the regular season.
Led by Johnny Campa and a back line that never broke.
Brian Murguia – heart, voice, leadership
Matt Hong – commitment, consistency, reliability
Lorenzo Cortez – head coach who gives 110%, every day
Andy Rodriguez returned from injury and delivered key performances—including the Villarreal match—showing resilience and character.
“This team continues to raise the standard. Every training, every match, every moment—we’re building something special for this community.”
“Our mentality grew more than anything else. We’re becoming a group that doesn’t fold, that stays disciplined, and that fights for each other.”
“Round Lake Evolution FC represents everyone in our community. We’re here, we’re growing, and we’ll never stop working to make this club something the town can be proud of.”
The 2025 season was more than numbers—it was about showing Round Lake that it has a team worth supporting.
“I just want the community to know that we’re here and that we represent them.”
Families showed up. Kids wore Evo colors. The energy grew week by week.
This is only the beginning.
1. Qualify for the National Playoffs Bracket
The next level. The next step.
2. Continue Growing the Club
“Every year it gets bigger and better. Let’s keep growing.”
The season ends, but the mission continues.
Evo evolves. Evo grows. Evo strives.
See you in 2026. Vamos Round Lake.
Saturday, October 18 • 6:30 PM • Round Lake High School Stadium
As the Fall 2025 regular season nears its conclusion, Round Lake Evolution FC returns home for a critical Matchday 9 clash against Urbana City FC. With the playoff picture tightening and two matches left on the schedule, Evo enters the weekend with complete focus.
“We’re playing one match at a time. We’re focused. We know what’s in front of us if we succeed.”
There’s no looking ahead. No distractions. Just business.
Round Lake currently sits 4th in the Midwest Central Division with 15 points, just behind KS Wisloka Chicago and within striking distance of the top. A win Saturday would go a long way toward locking in postseason positioning — and keeping pressure on the clubs above.
Despite their record, Urbana presents a challenge that Evo is taking seriously. Urbana currently sits in 10th place but is coming off their first win of the season.
“Urbana is a great opponent. They’ve been struggling this season, but you can never underestimate an opponent at this level.”
The match will come down to execution, not assumptions.
“We hope they come to play their game — and we play ours. That’s the only important thing.”
When asked if there were any special tactics being prepared behind the scenes, the response was simple:
“LOL — we don’t discuss that.”
Evo’s focus remains internal.
There are no individual names in the spotlight this week — and that’s by design.
“We want to shout out the squad as a whole. They’ve been keeping this serious and have been showing up and out.”
The coaching staff plans to maintain the same core lineup that’s brought success throughout the season:
“We want to keep the same core.”
The keys to the match?
“Keep a cool head.”
It’s more than a match. It’s a homecoming. It’s an opportunity. It’s one step closer to playoffs.
“VAMOOOS ROUND LAKE.”
The mission is clear: give the fans something to celebrate under the stadium lights.
“We expect them to leave happy.”
🆚 Urbana City FC

🕡 Kickoff: 6:30 PM
🏟️ Round Lake High School Stadium
Round Lake Evolution FC fought to a 2–2 draw against Berber City FC on Matchday 5 of the UPSL Midwest Central season.
Berber City struck first, scoring in the opening three minutes to put Evo under early pressure. But the response came before halftime. In the 38th minute, Ronaldo Rojas converted a free kick to level the score. Just two minutes later, Rojas struck again — this time finishing off a perfectly timed assist from Nikita Stepanov, who beat his man down the flank, pulled the last defender and goalkeeper out of position, and set up an easy tap-in for Evo’s No. 9.
Evolution carried the lead deep into the second half, but late drama changed the outcome. In the 85th minute, a penalty was awarded to Berber City, who converted from the spot to make it 2–2. Despite Evo’s efforts in the closing moments, the points were shared.
Ronaldo Rojas – two goals, clinical finishing under pressure.
Nikita Stepanov – relentless running on the wing, critical assist for the second goal.
Defensive core – kept Berber City’s dangerous attack under control for most of the night.
The match was played at Round Lake High School under challenging circumstances, with a lighter-than-usual crowd. Even so, the players delivered intensity on the pitch, representing the community with pride.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez: “We showed resilience after going down early. The players fought back hard, and we created enough to win the game. The late penalty hurts, but we’re still in a strong position.”
Assistant Coach Milton Carranza: “Ronny was excellent tonight, but it was also about the work rate of everyone around him. This team is evolving every match.”
Club Director Alvaro Vazquez: “The turnout wasn’t what we hoped for, but the guys on the field gave everything. This is just another step in the story we’re writing for Round Lake.”
With the draw, Evolution remain in second place in the Midwest Central standings on 8 points, level with Black Cat FC but ahead on goal differential. Berber City stays just behind with 7 points. KS Wisloka Chicago leads the conference with 10 points.
Evolution travel to face TBD FC in their next matchup, looking to bounce back and continue the push at the top of the table.
After opening the season with a commanding 4-0 win over Chicago Strikers, Round Lake Evolution FC is heading into Week 2 of the UPSL Spring 2025 campaign with momentum on their side. Sitting in second place on goal differential, the Evo now face one of the league’s toughest tests: KS Wisloka Chicago, the reigning UPSL League Champions.
Wisloka opened their season in style, dismantling Issa Villarreal 6-0. Known for their physicality and relentless attack, they’ll pose a serious challenge for Round Lake. While the Evo don’t consider them rivals, this matchup carries weight — it’s an early chance to measure themselves against the title holders.
“Wisloka is a strong opponent, no doubt,” said head coach Lorenzo Cortez. “But these are the games we live for — to test ourselves against the best and prove what Round Lake football is about.”
Last week, JJ struck twice in the first half, with Alex Fillian and Luis Flores adding goals to secure the 4-0 victory. The defensive trio of Andy Rodriguez, Brian Murgia, and goalkeeper Johny Campa were equally impressive — Campa pulling off a highlight-reel save diving to his left to preserve the clean sheet.
Assistant coach Milton Carranza praised the team’s balance:
“We defended with grit and attacked with confidence. That’s the standard we want to carry forward into every match.”
This Sunday, the Evo travel to face Wisloka on their home turf. Known for having one of the loudest fanbases in the league, Wisloka will bring the noise, but Round Lake is eager to meet the challenge.
Club owner Varo Vazquez expressed gratitude to Evo supporters:
“It’s a drive, but we always appreciate every single fan who shows up for us on the road. Your presence matters. This is about representing the whole Round Lake community.”

Round Lake, IL — After a rain delay that pushed kickoff back an hour and thinned the crowd, Round Lake Evolution FC made sure the fans who stayed were rewarded with a dominant performance. The Evo secured a 4–0 win over Chicago Strikers in UPSL action, showcasing both attacking firepower and defensive resilience.
It took just 11 minutes for Round Lake to break the deadlock. Forward JJ opened the scoring with a composed finish, setting the tone early. Just ten minutes later, he doubled the lead with a second strike, putting the Evo firmly in control.
As halftime approached, Alex Fillian added a third in the 41st minute, sending the team into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
While the attack was sharp, it was the defense that ensured Chicago Strikers never found their footing. Andy Rodrigues and Brian Murgia led the backline with top-tier performances, shutting down any attempt at a comeback.
Goalkeeper Johny Campa produced one of the highlights of the night, diving fully to his left to deny a powerful effort that looked destined for the net.
In the 60th minute, Luis Flores capped off the scoring with a confident finish, sealing the 4–0 result.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez praised the team’s balance:
“We were clinical in the attack and disciplined in defense. Even with the rain delay and a smaller crowd, the players kept their focus and delivered a professional performance.”
Assistant Coach Milton Carranza highlighted the fight of the squad:
“This was about grit and heart. Everyone stepped up, from the backline to the forwards. Nights like this show what the Evo are made of.”
Club Owner Alvaro Vazquez looked ahead:
“This win is another step in our journey. Our goal has always been to represent Round Lake with pride, and performances like tonight prove we’re building something special.”
The 4–0 victory adds momentum to Round Lake Evolution FC’s UPSL campaign as the team continues its push through the season.
Round Lake Evolution FC: Spring 2025 Season Wrap-Up
The Spring 2025 UPSL season has officially come to a close for Round Lake Evolution FC. And while the journey ended in the semifinals, this was a campaign marked by growth, resilience, and an undeniable connection with the Round Lake community.
We finished the regular season with a 5W-1D-3L record, qualifying for the playoffs and earning a spot in the quarterfinals. On the road, we faced Black Cat FC and came away with a 2-1 win, advancing to the UPSL Midwest Central Semifinals.
There, we faced off against a familiar rival, Chicago Nation FC. In a hard-fought battle, Evolution came up short with a 3-1 loss, ending our playoff run. But this result doesn’t define our season.
From day one, the squad committed to playing with intensity, unity, and pride. Players stepped up, fans showed out, and the support we received from local businesses and families made this one of the most connected seasons in our club's history.
We proudly represented the entire Round Lake area — Round Lake, Beach, Heights, and Park. Every win, every goal, every tough moment was for this community.
Thank you to every supporter, player, coach, volunteer, and sponsor who helped make Spring 2025 unforgettable.
We’re proud of what we built. And we’re not done.
Fall 2025 is coming.

Round Lake Evolution FC heads into its final regular season match with everything on the line.
After a narrow 2-1 defeat on the road to conference leaders KS Wisloka Chicago, the Evo remain in fourth place with 16 points — holding onto the final playoff spot by just two points over a surging TBD FC. The math is simple: a win guarantees Evolution a postseason berth. Anything less, and the door is open for elimination.
TBD FC, unbeaten in their last five, come into Round Lake with momentum and motivation. A win for the visitors would leapfrog them into fourth place, knocking Evo out of the playoff picture. But Round Lake holds the advantage of home turf, fan support, and a roster filled with local pride and proven talent.
Midfielder Luis Avilés, who scored in last week’s loss, continues to be a key figure in Evolution’s attack, while newcomers like Eliam Mier add depth and urgency to a midfield group that’s shown grit all season.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez has been clear about the mindset:
“We’re not here to hope for playoffs. We’re here to take them.”
This isn’t just another league match — it’s a final. The winner advances. The loser watches from home. With local pride, a playoff spot, and the season on the line, Saturday night promises intensity from the opening whistle.
Don’t miss the most important match in club history to date. Bring the energy. Wear red and black. And make your voice heard.

With the top four advancing to the playoffs, and only two matchdays left, this could be a season-defining result for both clubs.
🗣 "We respect them, but we’re not here to back down. We're here to fight for Round Lake," said assistant coach Milton Carranza.

Round Lake Evolution FC is back in action for Matchday 7 in a unique setting — a home match being hosted away from home. Originally scheduled at Round Lake High School, this matchup had to be relocated due to a track event conflict. In a show of sportsmanship and flexibility, United SC has opened their doors, allowing Evo to host at the Lions for Hope Sports Complex in Chicago.
Currently sitting in 5th place with 10 points, Evo is just three points away from a top-three spot and has a game in hand. A win here could be pivotal in tightening the playoff race. United SC, meanwhile, sits just behind in 6th place with 9 points, making this a true six-pointer.
Last weekend, Round Lake Evolution secured a gutsy 2-1 comeback win over Chicago Nation, featuring a highlight-reel scissor kick from Morais Lee and a clinical finish from Jesse Anamoo. The squad comes into this fixture with renewed energy and focus.
United SC is a dangerous side with 15 goals scored this season but also a leaky backline, conceding 16. Evo’s discipline in the midfield and sharpness on counters could prove the difference.

Chicago Nation FC 1 - 2 Round Lake Evolution FC
Round Lake Evolution FC pulled off a thrilling comeback win on the road against rivals Chicago Nation FC in Matchday 6 of the UPSL Midwest Central North Division. The 2-1 victory at the College of DuPage Stadium on May 10, 2025, was packed with drama, grit, and two unforgettable second-half goals.
The first half saw Chicago Nation take the lead, going into halftime with a 1-0 advantage. But the Evo came out of the break with purpose and fire.
Just one minute into the second half, Morais Lee stunned the crowd with an outrageous scissor kick from outside the box that ripped into the net to level the score 1-1. It was a momentum-shifting goal that energized the entire squad.
The match-winner came in the 63rd minute, and it was all about hustle. A misplayed back pass to Chicago Nation’s goalkeeper turned into a disaster under pressure from Oscar Hernandez Campa, who forced a turnover. Jesse Anamoo was there to pounce and slotted it home with confidence to make it 2-1.
While the attack delivered, credit must also go to Evo goalkeeper Jerry Perez, who came up with several clutch saves to preserve the win in the closing moments.
Head Coach Lorenzo Cortez praised the response: "Going down a goal on the road isn’t easy, but the guys showed belief and executed when it mattered most. That scissor kick by Morais changed everything."
Assistant Coach Milton Carranza added, "It wasn’t just the goals—it was the fight. Oscar pressing, Jesse finishing, Jerry locking it down—everyone stepped up."
With this victory, Round Lake Evolution FC continues to climb the table and assert themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in the division.
Matchday 7 is next as Evo returns home to host United SC. Let’s keep the momentum going.
